2020 will be known as an eventful year, to say the least.
One of the most surprising things to come out of this turbulent time is the rise of cosmetic surgery during a year spent mostly in lockdown. The Zoom effect, as reported by the BBC, had people staring at their own faces on work calls for hours on end and the New York Times interviewed many cosmetic surgeons saying that they’d never been busier. Celebrities like Jimmy Carr were open about their personal treatments as well, breaking some of the stigmas around improving your appearance.
With 2020 (mercifully) drawing to a close, we wanted to look at the numbers. What were the most popular cosmetic surgery treatments being searched around the world? We picked 14 of the most popular treatments according to Qunomedicals database of doctors and clinics and then looked at the average searches per month for the last 12 months.
The Most Popular Cosmetic Surgery Around the World
- Botox
- Liposuction
- Rhinoplasty
- Tummy Tuck
- Lip Fillers
- Hair Transplant
- Breast Enlargement
- Brazilian Butt Lift
- Breast Reduction
- Facelift
- Mommy Makeover
- Gynecomastia Surgery
- Butt Implants
- Beard Transplant
We can see that in global and individual rankings Botox, Lip Fillers, Liposuction, and Rhinoplasty are amongst the most searched for cosmetic surgery treatments. Whilst the other treatments have been popular for the last decade, Lip Fillers have only risen in popularity in the last few years alone. Similarly, we can see that Brazilian Butt Lift which was once rarely performed is now in the top ten for most countries – most prominently in the USA where it was ranked fourth.
It seems as more and more celebrities get prominent cosmetic surgery, or they are open about it, it’s spurring the general public to research these treatments.
